Paper Pumpkin Possibilities Poppin' Birthday Blog Hop

Hello, hello, hello my friends!!  Today's post is an absolutely FABULOUS ONE because we're doing the Paper Pumpkin Possibilities blog hop!  And, as you know, I'm always excited about anything to do with Paper Pumpkin!!! It's truly my FAVORITE kit EVER! :-D

Remember to visit each blog in the hop to get all sorts of fantastic ideas on alternative projects to make with your MARCH 2019 Paper Pumpkin kit!  Speaking of the March kit........

Can I just say that the box alone is the CUTEST Paper Pumpkin box I've ever seen!!! And, this month's kit is absolutely phenomenal too!!! I LOVE IT!! I was pleasantly surprised to see tear 'n tape in there. I don't ever recall a time that one was offered. So that was cool!  On top of that, the ADDITIONAL FREE STAMP SET was pretty incredible too!  I LOVE dotted letters and numbers!!  So it was PERFECT, I thought!

The kit makes up EIGHT Pop up Birthday Cards (and envelopes) as instructed.  But there are lots of fabulous extra pieces and parts too!!  So even if you make up all 8 of the cards, you'll still have extra supplies to create some alternative projects!! :-D

Ok, let's have some fun!

This little box was SO MUCH FUN to create!  The idea comes from Dawn Griffith, actually.  I just loved the way it looked and I knew I wanted to use the template to create my own.  It worked out perfectly with the March kit!  I plan to use this little box as packaging for a gift we got our daughter for her 15th birthday coming up on the 12th of April!  She's going to LOVE IT!  It's a great size to hold jewelry and tiny trinkets.  It could also hold some candies or a Lindt Truffle or Ferrero Rocher without any trouble.  :-D

First thing, I started with a piece of cardstock cut at 4" x 8 1/2". You can get TWO of these little boxes per sheet of Cardstock! YAYA!!

Note the score lines in the photo.

On the short side, score at: 1 1/2" and 3 1/2"
On the long side, score at: 2", 4", 6", and 8"

Burnish all your lines and then cut the tab on the "skinny side" as shown above.  You'll also want to cut up on those 2", 4", 6" and 8" marks, just to the first line across. This will give you 4 flaps after you cut the tab section away.

Next, you're going to add a good strong adhesive (I used tear 'n tape from the kit) to the tab you made in the last step, and then fold the other end of the cardstock over to meet it.

Now that you've got your sides glued together, we'll need to get the bottom closed up. Believe it or not, this is the "hardest part"! LOL.  Just be mindful of where your seam is. I always want it in the back. I used liquid glue, but you could use the tear 'n tape.  Just keep it close to the edges of each flap then.

Once the bottom is closed, you'll "PINCH" the top shut as shown here.  Now, your box is basically finished.  You just need to embellish it.

I had this scrap of DSP left over from another alternative I made with the kit. It measures 1 7/8" x 1 1/2" I believe.  It fit perfectly on the front, so I used it! hehe. I also used a little binder clip I had on hand as a closure for the box.  You COULD glue it shut if you want to, but I like the idea of the receiver being able to use it again if they want.  A little scrap of ribbon tied in a knot dresses it up nicely. :-)

I wanted to take full advantage of the adorable little die cut numbers that were included in the kit, so i cut up some dimensionals and put them on the backsides of a 1 and 5 (I STILL can't believe our LITTLE girl is going to be FIFTEEN!!!) and then applied them kinda cattywompus on the box to make them look more fun!  Try it and see what I mean. It's INCREDIBLE, the difference alignment alone can make on a project.  LOL. It's wild! It can take a project from clean and proper to fun and fancy free in a second!

The Glitter Enamel Dots added the perfect finishing touches to this adorable little box!

As incredibly fabulous as this month's kit is, NEXT MONTH'S KIT is going to be spectacular!!  We know that April's kit will be the very first EVER to include the amazing distINKtive stamp technology! I'm thrilled to death about that because the distINKtive stamps carry the shadow and highlight all in ONE stamped image! If you've not experienced the distINKtive stamps for yourself, you don't know what you're missing!  Get your hands on some of them....... RIGHT AWAY!!! hehe. At the very least, make sure you sign up for Paper Pumpkin by April 10th so you can try them that way!!

If you don't already have a Stampin' Up demonstrator (or I am your demo), please click the Distinktive photo here to subscribe to Paper Pumpkin!  Don't miss out!

I hope you enjoyed today's project my friends! And, I hope that you'll check out all the other blogs along the hop.  There are some absolutely FABULOUS alternative projects to be seen.

Thank you so much for stopping by today friends!  Please comment below, what you think of today's project.  I love to hear from you. :-)

Have a fantastic day!

And as always,
Happy Crafting!
