Playful Pets Make-It Monday

Good morning friends! It's time for another Make-It Monday.  This week, I'm using the Playful Pets Bundle to create a sympathy card for my sweet friend who just lost her fur baby.  Those of you who follow me know that I'm a huge pet fan! My craft room buddies are a huge part of my world.  I can't imagine having to say goodbye to them. :'(

I wanted to send a card to let my friend know I was thinking of her and sharing in her sorrow. I hope she likes it.

This card puts a heavy emphasis on the Playful Pets Designer Series Paper.  It's gorgeous paper, actually! I love it and will be so sad to see it retire this summer!

The entire Playful Pets Suite of Products has been my absolute FAVORITE!

For today's card, I started with a standard 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" Basic Black Card Base (scored at 4 1/4" on the long side).  Then added a 4" x 5 1/4" piece of the dog words printed DSP for a background layer.

The focal point of the card is that fabulous star/cluster in the middle.  It's so pretty!  To create it, you'll need TWO pieces of Real Red Cardstock cut at 2 5/8" x 2 5/8", and then EIGHT 1 1/4" x 1 1/4" squares of DSP.  I chose the white background with paw prints, but certainly you could use whichever you prefer!  The one with the bowls would be a great option as well!

I stamped the image of the backside of the dog because the other one looked happy, and this is a sympathy card. It seemed a little inappropriate. Is that just me? lol. Anywhoooo, I'm glad that image is there! And it has a die shape to cut it out too! Thanks TONS Stampin' Up!! I stamped in Memento Black ink on Gray Granite Cardstock.

The Pampered Pets bundle is actually a terrific one for all sorts of Pet Lovin' occasions.  It's got a healthy combo of cat and dog, so it's great for everyone!

Of course, I used the sentiment "Always in your heart.....so sorry for your loss".  I'm very thankful for this sentiment. Sadly, I've had to use it a few times in the last year. :'( Losing a fur baby is just an awful thing. They really are family. And the very best of friends. The Real Red background strip is 4 1/4" x 1" and the Basic White sentiment strip is 4 1/4" x 3/4".

You'll want to watch this week's Make-It Monday video for assembly of the star/cluster. But you can get the basic gist by looking at the photo.  I overlapped the corner of each one around and lined them up with the edges of the red cardstock.

The heart comes from the Dog Builder Punch, which sadly is retiring this year too. If you don't have it yet, but are a dog lover, you may want to grab it up right quick before it's gone.

I didn't use the trinkets or the ribbon on this card, but wanted to share them here with you anyway because they are absolutely FABULOUS!!

In my video, I mentioned the Playful Pets Project Class that I have coming up soon.  You can find details for it below, but it includes a package of the trinkets, the twin pack of ribbon/trim, and a 6"x12" pack of the DSP!!  It's a terrific class that I know you'll just love! We're gonna have a terrific time in the class. You should just us!

I hope you have a wonderful Monday.  If you have fur babies, snuggle them close today and give them lots of love and treats!

Pampered Pets CASE-IT Wednesday

Good morning friends! It's time for another CASE-It Wednesday.  Yay!

Ya know, I absolutely ADORE the Playful Pets product suite on pages 40-42 of the 2020 Annual Catalog. I love the colorway, the trimmings, and especially the Dogs & Cats!  So, when I browsed through the pages looking for this week's CASE-It project, it was pretty easy to choose.

What's not to love about these furry little friends?

I chose this card to CASE because it's not a typical size for a card.  It's final measurements are 4"x4" square.  So, once completed, your options to send the card are to create a 4 1/8" x 4 1/8" square envelope, or put the 4"x4" card into a standard A2 size envelope, or hand deliver it.  Though, it is a great size for a nice large notecard in a gift basket.

Here's what you need to complete this project:

8" x 4" Basic Black Cardstock for Base (scored at 4")
3 3/4" x 1 3/4" Designer Series Paper
2 1/2" x 3 3/4" Whisper White for the front panel
3 7/8" x 3 7/8" Whisper White for the inside panel
3" x 3/4" Balmy Blue for banner across front
Scrap of Whisper White to stamp and diecut the dog image onto
Tuxedo Black Ink Pad
Real Red Ink Pad
Gray Granite Stampin' Blends
Real Red Stampin' Blends
Pampered Pets Stamp & Dies Bundle

I stamped the dog on the 2 1/2" White strip in Tuxedo Black and also on the scrap of White.  I die cut him out of the scrap to layer onto the 2 1/2" strip.

Adhere the DSP near the bottom of the card front.
Layer the 2 1/2" White over top.
Use dimensionals to attach the die cut dog over top of the other stamped one.
Also use dimensionals to attach the blue banner across the bottom.

For the inside, I kept the card simple and just stamped the dog bowl and the little set of hearts. I used the Real Red Stampin' Blends to color both in.

Always remember that the Stampin' Up catalog is an incredible Idea Book where you can jump start your creativity by simply CASE-ing a ready made project!  If you don't already have a Stampin' Up demonstrator, I would love to be yours and send you a new Stampin' up catalog/Idea Book!  Just let me know!

Until Next Time,
Happy Crafting!

A card for the broken hearted....

Those who have had the pleasure of having a "fur baby" or "man/woman's best friend" or "companion" or whatever you choose to describe them...... Know the utter joy of being a pet owner/partner.

In a world of chaos and confusion, there is always one constant at home. Our best friends, our companions, our babies are always there to show how happy they are to see us home again.  While some may say that they are "just animals", we lucky ones know the truth.  They are the best of us! Irreplaceable. Sometimes our sanity. And often times, our whole world.

My fur babies are Layla and Gunner.  My faithful sidekicks, and trusted companions. The sweetest, kindest, most loving puppers on the planet. Unless you try to lay a finger on me of course! lol.  Then they're rearing to go to protect me.

They totally look "ferocious" don't they? lol. Unconditional love runs both ways.  And even though I know they're getting older, the idea that I will someday have to say goodbye is already a devastating thought.

One of my sweet friends lost her fur baby this past weekend. She is heartbroken, and I completely understand.  I wanted to send her a card, to let her know I was thinking of her.

Thanks to Stampin' Up for always seeming to have just the right stamps for us!  The Happy Tails Stamp set is on the retiring list, but I plan to hang on to it for a long time to come. I love the puppy dog that you can add spots and patches to, and the sentiments are just PERFECT!
There's a lot of two step stampin' going on with this set too.  You have the option of dalmation type spots, or lucky type patches, plus the dog has a collar.  And the hearts two step, as well as the dog house.  And check out those fabulous sentiments! LOVE IT!

I love the color combination here. I think it fits well for a fur baby card. I used the little paw print stamp to create a background on the scalloped rectangle.  It definitely draws the eye in!  The sentiment is beautiful too.  On the outside it says "So sorry for your loss". On the inside it says "A Best Friend leaves a paw print on  your heart".  It's so true!

I used a lot of layers and a bit of dimension too.  I really like the look of it and it adds to the quality of the card.

If you have a fur baby that you love, be sure to hug it extra tight today. We don't get to have them in our lives nearly long enough.

Until Next Time,
Happy Crafting!

If you don't have the Happy Tails set in your collection, you really need it! There's also one called Nine Lives if you're more of a kitty person. :-) No judgments on which is better. I'll add them both to this list.  Just click the image of the item you'd like to purchase, and it'll take you directly to my website Enjoy!
