Christmas in July Blog Hop

Hello everyone!! I'm so excited about today's project!

As I mentioned in my last post, I'm not one to rush the Jolly Ol' Elf, however, I feel that Christmas in July is an exception. hehe.  My rationale is that Christmas is indeed the celebration of all celebrations and truly is bigger than just a few weeks.  BUT, we have all these other fantastic occasions to celebrate as well.  SO, it's completely justifiable to let a little Christmas drip into July.  To help us beat a little of the summer's heat, and get us excited for that most wonderful time of the year!

With that in mind, I have an absolutely ADORABLE little Christmas Treat Holder to share with you.  I've used the die set once already for a sweet little bridal treat holder, but now I've switched gears and turned it into Santa's treat!!

Is this not the cutest little Christmas treat ever? Add a Ghiradelli chocolate to it and give one to all the teachers, or office staff, or pretty much anyone!

The Little Treats Stamp and Die Bundle should definitely be towards the top of your holiday wish list! Just look at all the "ready made" opportunities included in the set!

Now's where I get to tell you about the supplies I used.
* Obviously the LITTLE TREATS Stamp & Die bundle
* A new Red Velvet paper (that I'm SUPER EXCITED for!)
* Whisper White Cardstock
* Versamark Ink Pad
* Clear Emboss Powder
* Real Red Ink Pad
* Memento Black Ink Pad
* Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon
* Silver Metallic Edge Ribbon
* (BRAND NEW) Real Red 3/16" Braided Linen Trim
* (BRAND NEW) Glitter Star Ornaments (WITH DANA APPROVED GLITTER!!!)
* Mini Stampin' Dimensionals

The terrific thing about this treat holder, is that you actually don't have to use adhesive at all. The flaps lock together well enough that by the time you tie a bow onto the top, it holds everything in place!

When creating this project, I knew I wanted to heat emboss EVERYTHING.  But alas, Stampin' Up only carries a few basic colors of embossing powder. Well, that's no trouble at all when you know the "technique" behind embossing in any color you like!

The photo strips here show a step by step progression of how to achieve this feat!

That's a pretty neat trick right?  Now you can emboss in "ANY COLOR" you choose! Just remember to stamp into the Versamark FIRST and THEN into your colored ink! ;-)

From there, I let the incredible dies do all the work. The stitching and scalloped edges on the label and tag make them dressed up and ready to go as is.  Add a couple mini dimensionals to Santa's hat to attach it to the label, pop the label up on the holder, use the glitter star ornament silver thread to tie it and the tag to the ribbons and you are all set! Tie it all up with a beautiful red bow and VIOLA!!! The perfect little Christmas treat!

They're big enough to brighten anyone's day, and yet small enough to tuck away to be found!

  7. do you need to do the two step stamping? Does it give a better result? I emboss in any colour by just using the ink pad and clear powder. I've never done the extra step of the versamark as well.

    1. I think it gives a better result. It holds more powder and I think the embossing is "raised" more this way. Plus you're not in as quick a rush to get the powder on it.
