Special Someone 3 Tier Ghirardelli Treat Box

Oh boy do I have a fantastic little project for you today, my friends!

It's sneaky and fun and you're gonna love it! hehe

Isn't it the cutest thing?  But the exciting part is what happens when you take the lid off!

What?!!

Ok, this little fella is pretty easy to make too! Shall we get to it?

First, you'll need the following:

* Scoreboard & Scoreboard Shim (Click HERE if you need to make one)
* 2 1/8" x 10 1/2" Cardstock for base (Scored on the long side at: 2 1/8", 4 1/4", 6 3/8", and 8 1/2")
* (3) 2 3/4" x 2 3/4" Cardstock for trays (Scored at 3/8" all around)
* 3 1/8" x 3 1/8" Designer Series Paper for lid (Scored at 1/2" all around)
* Tear & Tape
*Scissors
*Stamps/Dies/Embellishments

Beginning with the Cardstock Base, you may notice that there's a 1/8" shortage on the last "square". That's because that piece curls back into the middle of the box and you don't want it to push out.  It's the "square" shown on the far right with the green Ghirardelli Square on it.  The tray will sit flush with the bottom on this one.

We'll work with that "Square" first.  Turn your piece upright on your scoreboard, so that the short side is along the top.  Score at the 3/8" mark from the top, down to the first crossing score line.  It will make a little rectangle on the top part of that "square".  You'll cut that off (see far right "square" in open box photo above).

Now you'll make your trays. You will need to cut and miter tabs on each of the pieces. See here:

You'll make your lid the same way as the trays, except that you'll need to be sure and use the Scoreboard Shim to make your score lines.  You want the lid to be snug, but not tight.
Once you have your pieces cut, glue the tabs to form the trays and lid.

Assembly is pretty simple.

We'll start with the far right "square". That's the one we cut that small strip off the top.  KEEPING IN MIND THAT THE MISSING PART IS THE TOP, use tear & tape to secure one tray to the very bottom of that square. It should line up in the middle of the bottom edge.

The 2nd tray will go right in the middle of the middle square. Put a piece of tear & tape on two connecting sides of the tray.  Lay the tray in the middle of the middle square and secure the tape.  Now, roll the tray over to that square we skipped (square #4) and secure the other taped side of the tray.  So now that tray is connected to squares 3 & 4, and the bottom tray is only connected to square 5.

Alright, now for the 3rd tray. Once again, you'll add tear & tape to two connecting sides of the tray. You'll align the tray with the center top edge of square #1. Now, just as before, you'll want to roll the tray over to square #2, joining the tray to both squares.

Well done!  You should have one tray connected to squares #1 and #2,  a tray connected to squares #3 and #4, and the last tray at the bottom center of square #5.  If so, then your box should close up onto itself with the trays tucked away nicely inside.  What a wonderful surprise! :-D

Once you've tested your box to make sure it closed up nicely, add the lid to the top to keep it all closed up, and embellish the outside of your box!

I chose the Special Someone stamp set and new coordinating dies to decorate mine with. And, I attached that adorable thought bubble sentiment to the lid instead of the box! It gave me a little more room on the box itself and looked super cute too!

Well, there you have it friends! I hope you enjoyed today's SUPER CUTE 3D project.  Let me know if you make one. I'd love to hear all about it and see pictures of it in the Stampin' Chic's Facebook Group. You can request to join HERE, if you're not already in it. :-D
