Technique Tuesday - Create Your Own Designer Series Paper!

Hello my friends!  Today's Technique Tuesday is a FABULOUS one that I tend to fall back on quite often.  Whenever I'm making a project and the stamp set I'm using doesn't have it's own Designer Series Paper, or the paper it does have isn't quite what I want, I make my own!  It's super simple and you are going to LOVE IT!

You can start with any solid color of cardstock.  Often, I gravitate towards white, but you can use whatever you need.

You'll want to select an image or a couple of images that work well together, and just stamp randomly around the paper.

I've created a video to show how easy it is!

There is no real right or wrong way to create your own DSP, so have fun and let your creativity FLY!!!

This was last week's Make it Monday project.  As you can see, I created my own background because I wanted a different color palette for the "Everything is Rosy" project.

And then, In this video you'll see where I made my own patterned background for a treat box I made.  You're only limited by your imagination on what backgrounds you can create!

Well friends, there you have it.  Easy peezy and super fabulous CUSTOM designer series paper that you can create to match any project you need it for!

I hope you've enjoyed today's technique! Be sure to check back next week for a new Technique Tuesday!

Have a fabulous day!!!

Until next time,

Thoughtful Thursday

Good morning my friends!  Do you find yourself constantly hurrying from one task to another each day?  I do. I am guilty of cramming way more into my day than I have hours for.  Why do we do that to ourselves?  What is the purpose of filling every waking minute with SOME "THING" that must be done?

Today, let us take a minute to just breathe and relax..........woooooooosaaaaaaaah!  Last week, we did a little Yoga. Did you enjoy that?  Have you continued to do it? I have especially liked the spine stretches. It seems to help loosen the tension in my shoulders and back.

Rest and self-care are so important. When you take time to replenish your spirit, it allows you to serve others from the overflow. You cannot serve from an empty vessel.

This concept seems kind of foreign doesn't it?  We're taught that if we worry about ourselves before anyone else, then we're selfish. But emergency personnel are taught to check their surroundings for safety BEFORE they run to an injured victim. Why is that?  Well, quite simply, it's because they're absolutely useless to that victim if they were to get hurt on the way to help. Right? Seems like a good idea.  The same is true for us and our mental safety and wellness.  When we don't take a minute to "regroup" or decompress the stressors and responsibilities of the day, we take them to bed with us and get a rough night's sleep. That leads to a long and exhausting day, which leads to another rough night's sleep, and on and on and on. Am I right? So, for today (if not every day), take a few minutes for YOU.  Find a quiet place, maybe do some of that yoga we learned last week, close your eyes and just focus on your breathing. Slow, deep breaths.
Remember to fill your cup a bit before you start your day (each day), and you'll not only feel more relaxed and energetic, but you'll feel your interactions with others will be more enjoyable too!
If you are noticing a trend in our "Thoughtful Thursdays" so far, it's because I'm speaking to myself as well. hehe.  With our preparations for this big trip and our new "adventure" in life, I've found myself downright frazzled some days.  As I am reminding you to "ENHANCE YOUR CALM", I'm also looking inward. hehe.

Thanks so much for visiting with me today! I hope that you have a fabulous and stress free day and weekend!

Until next time,
Happy Crafting!

CASE IT Wednesday

Good morning friends!  I'm so excited today because TOMORROW my household is on its way to see our families "back home". YAYAY!! So, if you happen to notice I miss a day here or there, please don't hold it against me. hehe. I hope to be spending every waking minute with relatives. It's been a couple years since we were able to go back home, so this is going to be a fantastic journey!

I think you're going to like today's post.  This project comes from page 40 of our Annual catalog.  It could be a Birthday Card. It could be congratulations.  Who knows. You decide!  I actually received the stamp set last year at OnStage and really looked forward to using it, but then didn't exactly get around to it the way I had hoped to.  Have you ever done that?  Well, I think that's when CASE-ing a project really comes in handy. It helps to get those creative juices flowing!!

I love all the fabulous layers and texture going on with this card.  The vellum cardstock layer over the DSP is awesome and when you emboss it first.....  WOW!

The card base is a standard 8 1/2" x 5 1/2".  Then the striped DSP layer is a very tight 5 3/8" x 4 1/8".  The Vellum is 5" x 3 3/4" and was run through the big shot using the scattered sequins embossing folder.  I'll hate to see that one go. I just love it so much!

The good thing about layering something on top of vellum is that you don't have to be so strategic in hiding the adhesive. ha!  I just zipped that runner across the paper like a rebel! It's ok though, we cover it up.

Now, since this stamp set is photopolymer, you don't really HAVE to use the Stamparatus.  HOWEVER, I find with two-step stamping, it's still very nice to have that EXACT overlay. But to each their own. hehe

I took a scrap of the vellum and made my own colors out of it.  This is super easy to achieve by using our classic ink pad and daubers. I just worked some color in to the paper and heat set it.  Of course, if you're not in any kind of hurry, you can just lay it aside to dry but, who has that kind of time?!

The balloon punch comes in handy and makes quick work of our embellishments, since it cuts two at a time. A little strategic dimensional here and there and Viola! Floating balloons!  The Rhinestones add just the right touch of bling to make this card look a little bit dressed up too.

Well friends, there you have it! Quick and simple festive card able to be used for a great many distinguished occasions.

Thank you so much for stopping by today!! Have a fabulous day!

Until next time,
Happy Crafting!!
