Scrapbooking Global May 2020 Blog Hop

Hey there Stampin' Friends!!  I am so excited to be participating in the Scrapbooking Global Blog Hop for the first time EVER! YAY!  The theme for this month's hop is "INTERACTIVE".    Oh boy! That leaves a LOT to the imagination, doesn't it?  I can't wait to share my layout with you, so let's get to it!

If you follow me on Facebook or Instagram, you already know about my "studio buddies" Layla and Gunner. If you don't yet follow me, they are my bestest companions.  They're two of the most beautiful Boxers you ever saw. And the best dogs I've ever encountered.

Once upon a time, when they were much younger, we let them have a litter of pups.  Long story short, it was an incredibly stressful situation because Layla wasn't really the best mama and finding "ACCEPTABLE" homes by our standards was very difficult.  So we had them spayed/neutered shortly after the puppies were weened.   But for that short time when they were tiny, we enjoyed having babies around!

I decided to (FINALLY) do Layla's maternity layout.

The interactive parts of my layout are indicated by the "pull tabs".

On this page, there is a photo hidden behind the other.

Pulling the tab on this page, draws out the journal box.

This was such a fun project, and it made me get to work on some very long overdue scrapbooking! Considering the "puppies" are 8 years old already! hehe.

Honey Bee CASE-It Wednesday

Good morning friends! How are you today?

On Monday, I shared a fabulous fancy fold card using the Honey Bee Stamp & Die bundle.  I just LOVE that bundle, don't you?  They're gorgeous!  So pretty, in fact, that I decided to CASE the catalog for one of the projects featuring the Honey Bee Bundle. I think you're going to like it.

I love the Pretty Peacock Card base with the Mint Macaron Hive and the Cajun Craze bees.  So cute!

First, I started with an 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" card base, scored at 4 1/4".

Then I used the 2nd largest Stitched Rectangle die to cut the mat layer.  I stamped all over it with one of the beautiful flower stem stamps and Versamark ink. This technique adds a lot of texture to a project, without much effort.

To get the multi-color flower stems, I used Stampin' Write Markers.  Using the markers allows me to color the stems Old Olive, but color the flowers Pretty Peacock.  A word of caution here ***  DO NOT USE STAMPIN' BLENDS TO COLOR DIRECTLY ONTO YOUR STAMPS*** It can actually dry them out and break down the rubber compound, but also it permanently stains DARK.  Anyway, just don't do it. lol. Only color your stamps with the Stampin' Write markers. Trust me! ;-)

Once you color the whole image, you may need to "HUFF" on it to moisten the ink back up. It's a thing. HAHA.

The Honey Bees are stamped in Cajun Craze and then die cut.  "Hello" is stamped in Pretty Peacock and cut by hand.

I told ya the card is beautiful!  You can see how easy it is to CASE the catalog.  CASE-ing the catalog is especially helpful to get you out of a papercrafting "funk".  Try it and see.  Flip through to a stamp set you already have in your stash, then recreate the project using what you have on hand!  If you're missing an embellishment or something, you can always substitute for something else!

Thanks so much for stopping by today friends! I hope you enjoyed this FUN  CASE-IT Wednesday!

Until Next Time,
Happy Crafting!

A Lotta Lavender and Lace!

Hello there friends! Today's project is a card I was commissioned to design for wedding invitations.  The bride told me her theme, sent a few photos of things she already had for the wedding, and gave me her color scheme.  I created a few sample ideas for her, and the minute she saw this one she said "That's it! That's the one! It reminds me of my grandma."

Ya know, when I think about why I do what I do...........

It's ALL about moments like these!

What a sweet and wonderful experience to be a part of in the first place. And then to be able to help make it so special, is a real honor!  I'm thrilled that I was able to create something that the Bride not only loved, but something that could have such a deep and beautiful meaning for her.  It brought tears to my eyes, especially in light of the fact that I had just lost my grandma a couple short months ago.  I'm so glad that she was able to see me in my wedding dress and snuggle with her great-grandbabies.

If your nana is still here on earth with you, be sure to give her an extra hug from me today.  They're more precious than they could possibly imagine!

Thanks so much for stopping by today my friends! I hope you enjoyed today's project.

Until Next Time,
Happy Crafting!
