May ICS Blog Hop It's A Guy Thing in Black and White

Hey there friends! I'm joining the ICS Blog Hop this month and our theme is all about the fellas, in all Black & White! How exciting!

I wanted to use the Outdoor Barbecue stamp set from the 2020 Spring Mini Catalog because it will be retiring soon, and I really want to give it a little more love.  It's been a fantastic stamp set.  If you don't already have it, you should get it.  :-)

I started with a Basic Black card base (8 1/2" x 5 1/2" scored at 4 1/4" on the LONG SIDE), and then got together a 4" x 5 1/4" piece of Basic Black to run through with an embossing folder.  I love the subtle texture that happens with this technique. You wouldn't think it would make much difference being tone on tone, but in person it is magnificent!   Any textured embossing will do. :-) Before embossing, I used the 1 3/8" scalloped circle punch and one of the scalloped circle dies on that layer, to make best use of the negative space you don't see behind the white layer.  I love doing this because it saves so much paper!

The Whisper White layer is 3 3/4" x 5". I tied a length of Black Satin Ribbon into a knot around it before adhering to the Black embossed layer.

Stamp the Barbecue Grill and die cut with the smooth Layering Circle.  Stamp the sentiment and punch with the 1" round punch. Layer the White onto the Black layers. Use a Stampin' Dimensional to raise up the sentiment piece, and you are done!

On the inside, I used a piece of Whisper white cardstock measuring 4" x 5 1/4".

I stamped the Barbecue Grill full strength onto the front of a Whisper White Envelope, and then stamped a 2nd time (without fresh ink) inside the card.  This gives a softer and more subtle image of the grill in a space where you can still write your message to the recipient. This technique not only saves ink, but it also ties the envelope to the card AND decorates the inside of the card as well as the envelope. And, I always say "NO NAKED INSIDES AND NO NAKED ENVELOPES".

I can't wait to share what everyone else is doing for their Black & White Masculine projects.  Be sure to click the "NEXT" button to be taken over to Cheryl's blog to find out.  Follow the hop all the way around to see all of the fabulous projects shared today!

Well friends, that's all I have for you today.  I hope you enjoyed today's card! Simple can be so beautiful!

Until Next Time,
Happy Crafting!
