There Is Magic In The Night Slimline Card

Hello there friends! It's FINALLY fall in East TN and that brings out the desire for all things HALLOWEEN!!! :-D

Today's project is not only Halloween themed, but also a hot and trendy slimline card using the "Hallows Night Magic" Stamp & Die Bundle.

The "Magic In This Night" Designer Series Paper really lent a hand in the beautiful design of the card.  I added in a little Black Glimmer Paper and some Black Sparkle Organdy ribbon for good measure because, Why not?! So pretty! The Silver Embossed sentiment on the label added a brilliant touch too.

There are several different measurements out there for slimline cards, but the one I found the most common started out as an 8 1/2" x 7" piece of cardstock scored at 3 1/2" to make an 8 1/2" x 3 1/2" card size.

I cut the DSP just an 1/8" smaller than the card front (8 3/8" x 3 3/8") and then inked all the way around in black to help smooth the edges to the black card base.

The Black DSP strip across the bottom is 1" wide.

The Bats were stamped in Versamark ink and embossed with Clear powder to just give the beautiful texture that the bats stamped image carried.  It's a subtle look, but very effective!

To give the Bats a bit of flight, I used a Bone Folder to lightly curve them up. You want to be ever so gentle with this step so as not to damage the embossing and not to overly kink the bat's wings.  I used some of Stampin' Up black dimensionals and mini dimensionals to attach the bats to the card so they had a little more lift too.

For the inside of the card (No naked insides and no naked envelopes), I stamped a couple of the fabulous spiders from the set in black and then the Happy Halloween in Blackberry Bliss.

The card fits into a standard A10 (long letter envelope) and I dressed it up by stamping some spiders and the "Happy Halloween" sentiment on the flap.

I hope you enjoyed today's project! I definitely see the appeal of the slimline cards! They're so much fun to make!

Until Next Time,
Happy Crafting!
