August ICS Blog Hop

Heya Friends! Thanks for stopping by!  I've got a fantastic project to share with you today, and it's part of the Inspire.Create.Share Blog Hop. Yay! This month, the ICS team is focusing on all the fabulous punches that Stampin' Up has to offer.  You're gonna see all sorts of ways to use them in your projects, and get lots of inspiration and new ideas too!

I used the Tailored Tag Punch and the Gilded Autumn Designer Series Paper to create the background for my card.  This is such a fun technique and you can use any of our label type punches (and many of the others as well) to do it.  Stick with a specific color family if you don't want to worry about a paper matching.  Stampin' Up is VERY GOOD at creating gorgeous and well coordinated DSP.  Work that to your advantage! hehe.

As you can see here, the first step is to lay out the punched pieces and then glue them down. Don't worry about overhang because you'll cut that off when your adhesive is dry.

Here's another little trick for you.  In order to get a layered background piece from a punch, you'll need to cut them apart. For this particular punch, you need to cut TWO in half (one on the long side and one on the short side).  But some punched pieces are able to be cut into "wedges" from all four corners and it works. You'll just have to play with your particular punched piece to see which yours will be.  This one was a "cut two" situation.  Then, I trimmed a little off each end of the two long pieces so that they would tuck behind the edges of the two short pieces.

Don't forget to decorate the inside and the envelope!!

A couple of awesome punch techniques were shown here today.  I hope you enjoyed them. :-) I love using punches in my paper crafting.  They take up less space than a Big Shot, and still manage to make a project look good!

Head over to Miss Debbi's blog by clicking the next button, and be sure to follow the hop all the way back around to me (or wherever you started) so you don't miss out on any of the projects we've got for you!

Thanks so much for hanging out with me today! I hope you enjoyed my card and will try this technique soon!

Until Next Time,
Happy Crafting!
