Playful Pets Card Sketch #2

Good morning friends! Did you enjoy yesterday's card sketch?  If you created something with it, I'd love to see what you made!  Join THE STAMPIN' CHIC'S FACEBOOK GROUP and share your project in the comments of my post showing the sketch.  There's a PRIZE PATROL waiting for one lucky participant! :-D

I seem to have been all about sketches this week, so I decided to create today's project based on the sketch I posted on Saturday.  This is another fun one, that I really enjoyed creating with.  I'm also using the Playful Pets collection again, to get as much use out of it as I possibly can.  There are so many fantastic possibilities with these products!

I started with a Real Red Card Base (5 1/2" x 8 1/2" scored at 4 1/4").

Then layer on a 5 1/4" x 4" piece of Basic White Cardstock.

Next attach a 5 1/4" x 1 1/2" strip of Designer Series Paper aligned with the bottom of the white layer.

The 5 1/4" x 1/2" strip of Basic Black is aligned right against the DSP layer.

In Saturday's post, I told you that the banners were kind of a cheat.  The Real Red layer is 1 3/4" x 3 1/4" and the Basic Black layer is 1 3/4" x 1 1/4".  It's just a little scrap that fits behind the red layer.  To get them both cut the same, I lined them both together at the bottom, then cut a slit up the center and cut from each corner to the top of the slit, at the same time.  This insures a uniform layering.  Pretty sneaky, huh? hehe

I fussy cut the dogs and attached them with Dimensionals.

For the sentiment label, I masked off part of the sentiment and stamped the "I hope your day is" in Tuxedo Black on a scrap of Basic White, and then punched it out with the Classic Label Punch. I'm sad to say that my favorite punch is retiring with this current annual catalog. :'( So sad!

I carried the masked sentiment idea to the 5 1/4" x 4" Basic White inside panel.  This time, masking off the top part and completing the sentiment on this inside.  This is a terrific trick for having a coordinating inside and outside sentiment.

The dog bowls were stamped in Tuxedo Black and then colored with Real Red Stampin' Blends Markers.

I wanted to bring in a little of the DSP to the inside, so a 5 1/4" x 1/2" strip made a nice addition.

Card sketches are a fantastic way to create terrific projects, whether you're a beginner that is unsure of yourself or a seasoned crafter who needs a little boost.  I just love them! This one is brought to us by my friend Jo.  Thanks Jo! :-D

I hope you'll try this sketch out.  Remember, sketches are just a guideline.  You don't have to follow them exactly and you can change ANYTHING you want to because it's YOUR project! :-D

Playful Pets Card Sketch

Good morning friends! This evening is my Playful Pets Project Class and I'm so excited because I just love this product collection.  I'm thrilled that the stamps & dies are carrying over, but sad that the paper and trinkets will be going away soon.

Yesterday, I participated in a sketch challenge blog hop using this design.  When I created my card for the hop, I also created this one to share more ways my customers can use their Pampered Pets Stamps & Dies.  There really are lots of incredibly cute projects out there using this collection!  My hope is that my customers will use up all of their papers, ribbon trim, and trinkets, and not hoard them away. :-D

I started with a Black Card Base (8 1/2" x 5 1/2" scored at 4 1/4").

Then added a 2" x 5 1/4" strip of the Playful Pets Designer Series Paper.

I used the 4th largest circle and 3rd largest scalloped circle of the Layering Circles Dies to cut the Basic White and Real Red pieces and then layered them together with Multipurpose Liquid Glue, and attached them to the card base with Stampin' Dimensionals.

I stamped my dog in Tuxedo Black Ink (but doing tone on tone with Gray Granite looks great too!) and die cut him out with the coordinating die.  I also applied dimensionals to the backside of him, but made sure to only apply them to the parts that would be touching the base of the card directly. I added a spot of liquid glue to the parts of him that overlapped the circles.

I stamped the "I hope your day is a real treat" sentiment on a scrap of Basic White Cardstock, in each of the Tuxedo Black, Real Red, and Flirty Flamingo inks.  Then fussy cut each one out as shown. I applied Stampin' Dimensionals to the backside of them to give them depth from the layered circles. Then attached them to the circles.

Next, I added three little Basic Rhinestone Jewels around the bottom edge of the scalloped circle.

For the inside, I stamped on a 4" x 5 1/4" piece of Basic White.  I used the Real Red Stampin' Blends to color in the dog bowl. So cute!

I encourage you to create your own card design, using this fabulous sketch.  It really is a lot of fun and sketches are terrific for getting the creative juices flowing! Thanks to Miss Stephanie for the awesome sketch!

I hope you enjoyed today's card!

Be sure to follow my blog and join me again tomorrow for another fantastic project! :-D
